Per state law, the Metro Board of Directors consists of all five Los Angeles County Supervisors; the Mayor of the City of Los Angeles; three members appointed by the Mayor, one of whom must be a member of the Los Angeles City Council; and four members of City Councils from the other 87 incorporated cities in Los Angeles County, geographically selected by the Los Angeles County City Selection Committee to provide countywide representation.
